CrowdAlt charges a 0% platform fee to campaign creators. When you raise ₦1,000,000, you receive ₦1,000,000 in your Nigerian bank account. Payment gateway fees (1.5% + ₦100) are transparently covered by donors at checkout and paid directly to licensed payment switches. Optional tips keep our platform free and secure. All personal data is processed in strict compliance with the EU/UK GDPR and the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA) 2023.
1. Acceptance of Terms & Eligibility (18+)
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding contract between you (“User,” “Organizer,” “Donor,” or “Beneficiary”) and CrowdAlt (“CrowdAlt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), a digital crowdfunding platform created and operated by TRANZT DIGITALS LIMITED (RC-7612345), governing your access to and use of our website, mobile interfaces, APIs, and donation processing infrastructure.
Age & Legal Capacity (GDPR Art. 8 & NDPA): You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction of residence) and capable of forming a binding contract to register an Organizer account or initiate a donation. Fundraisers benefiting minors must be created and administered exclusively by a parent or court-appointed legal guardian.
By creating a campaign, submitting a donation, resolving a bank account, or using our platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to be bound by these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Cookie Policy.
2. The CrowdAlt Model & 0% Platform Fee
Unlike conventional fundraising websites that deduct a 5% to 8% commission from funds raised for emergencies and charities, CrowdAlt charges 0% platform commission to organizers.
We do not take a percentage of the funds you raise for medical care, tuition, clean water, or community relief.
We operate on voluntary tips contributed by generous donors and organizers to power our servers, security audits, and customer care.
3. Payment Processing Fees (1.5% + ₦100) & Currency Disclosures
Every digital transaction requires interbank switching, fraud prevention, and card rail maintenance. CrowdAlt partners with licensed Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) payment gateways (including Paystack Payments Limited).
To guarantee that the organizer receives 100% of the intended net donation:
- The standard payment processing fee of 1.5% + ₦100 (for local NGN transactions) is transparently itemized and covered by the donor at checkout.
- This processing fee is remitted directly to the payment gateway and settlement network. CrowdAlt does not retain or mark up this transaction fee.
- International debit/credit cards (EUR, GBP, USD) used by diaspora donors are subject to standard international interchange and foreign exchange conversion rates established by Visa, Mastercard, the donor's issuing bank, and Paystack. Currency conversion displays (USD, GBP, EUR) on CrowdAlt are provided for donor convenience, with final settlement executed in Nigerian Naira (NGN).
4. Organizer Obligations, Transparency & GDPR Article 9 Consent
As an Organizer creating a campaign on CrowdAlt, you represent, warrant, and covenant that:
- Truthful & Accurate Disclosures: All statements, medical reports, budget estimates, invoices, and photographs uploaded to your fundraiser are authentic, current, and accurate.
- Strict Purpose Limitation of Funds: All disbursed funds will be used exclusively and strictly for the explicit purpose stated in your campaign description.
- Beneficiary Authorization & Explicit GDPR Article 9 Consent: If you upload personal data, photographs, or sensitive health/medical information (Special Category Personal Data under GDPR Article 9 and the NDPA) belonging to yourself or another individual (Beneficiary), you warrant that you have obtained their prior, explicit, informed, and verifiable consent (or that of their legal guardian) to publish such information on CrowdAlt, and that you have notified them of their right to withdraw consent and request erasure at any time via privacy@crowdalt.org.
- Community Accountability: You will provide timely public progress updates to your donor community regarding milestones, treatments, or project completion.
5. KYC/BVN Identity Verification, AML Compliance & Payouts
To protect donors, prevent financial crime, and comply with statutory Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) obligations:
Before any payout is approved, organizers must link a verified 10-digit Nigerian NUBAN bank account matching their Bank Verification Number (BVN) and government-issued identity credentials.
Payouts are settled directly via Paystack transfer rails into regulated commercial or microfinance banks in Nigeria (including GTBank, Access Bank, Zenith Bank, First Bank, UBA, Kuda, Moniepoint, and OPay). CrowdAlt charges zero withdrawal fees. Where automated risk screening flags a campaign for review, you have the right to request human compliance review and submit supporting verification documents in accordance with GDPR Article 22.
6. Prohibited Activities & Unlawful Data Processing
The following campaigns and actions are strictly prohibited on CrowdAlt and will result in immediate campaign removal, payout suspension, donor refunds, and referral to regulatory or law enforcement authorities:
- Fraudulent misrepresentation of medical emergencies, bereavement, tuition needs, or disaster relief.
- Pyramid schemes, multi-level marketing, unlicensed investment/crypto schemes, gambling, or lotteries.
- Campaigns promoting hate speech, discrimination, terrorism, weapons, violence, or illegal activities.
- Money laundering, structuring, sanctions evasion, or violations of Central Bank of Nigeria regulations.
- Uploading personal data, medical records, or images of any person without their explicit GDPR/NDPA consent (doxxing or privacy infringement).
- Scraping, harvesting, or using donor information displayed on CrowdAlt for unsolicited marketing or off-platform spam.
7. Donor Provisions, Voluntary Tips & EU/UK Consumer Disclosures
Nature of Donations: Donations made on CrowdAlt are voluntary, gratuitous gifts made to support the designated campaign and its beneficiary, without any commercial return of goods or services. Donors receive an instant itemized electronic receipt via email confirming their transaction reference, net donation, and payment processing fee.
Voluntary Platform Tips: Donors may choose to leave an optional tip to sustain CrowdAlt's 0% fee infrastructure. Tips are completely voluntary and can be set to 0% at checkout without restriction.
EU/UK Consumer Rights & Refund Policy: Because charitable and crowdfunding donations are gratuitous gifts rather than commercial contracts for the sale of goods or services, the statutory 14-day commercial cooling-off period under the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU) and the UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply once funds have been disbursed to the beneficiary. However, all donors worldwide are protected by the CrowdAlt Giving Guarantee, which provides full refund eligibility in the event of verified campaign fraud, misuse of funds, or duplicate billing errors.
8. GDPR, UK GDPR & NDPA Data Protection Terms
CrowdAlt processes all personal data in strict compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR), the UK GDPR, and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA):
- Controller Responsibilities: TRANZT DIGITALS LIMITED acts as the Data Controller for platform registration, donation processing, KYC verification, and security monitoring as detailed in our Privacy Policy.
- Organizer Data Protection Obligations: To the extent an Organizer views donor names or messages of encouragement on their dashboard or campaign page, the Organizer agrees to process such information strictly for expressing gratitude or providing campaign updates, and never to export, sell, or add donor details to external mailing lists without independent GDPR Article 6(1)(a) consent.
- International Transfers & Sub-Processors: Cross-border data flows are safeguarded via European Commission Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), the UK IDTA, and GDPR Article 28 Data Processing Agreements with our payment and cloud infrastructure partners.
9. Intellectual Property, User Content License & Takedown Requests
Platform IP: All trademarks, brand elements, software code, visual design, and proprietary architecture of CrowdAlt are owned exclusively by TRANZT DIGITALS LIMITED (RC-7612345).
User-Generated Content & GDPR Erasure Alignment: You retain full ownership of the stories, photographs, and documents you upload to your campaign. By publishing a campaign, you grant CrowdAlt a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license solely to host, display, format, and share your campaign on the Platform so donors can view and support your cause. In accordance with GDPR Article 17 (Right to Erasure), this license terminates automatically when you delete your campaign or submit a verified erasure request to privacy@crowdalt.org.
10. Account Termination, Limitation of Liability & Governing Law
Account Closure & Suspension: You may close your account and exercise your GDPR/NDPA data deletion rights at any time. CrowdAlt reserves the right to suspend or terminate any campaign or account that violates these Terms or applicable law.
Limitation of Liability & Statutory Carve-Outs: CrowdAlt provides an online intermediary platform enabling organizers and charities to connect with supporters. To the maximum extent permitted by law, CrowdAlt shall not be liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from third-party campaign disputes. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits CrowdAlt's liability for fraud, gross negligence, protections guaranteed under the CrowdAlt Giving Guarantee, or mandatory statutory rights and remedies under GDPR Article 82, UK GDPR, or the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.
Governing Law & International Consumer Protections: These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts in Lagos State, Nigeria. If you are a consumer or data subject residing in the European Economic Area (EEA) or the United Kingdom, this choice of law does not deprive you of the protection afforded to you by mandatory provisions of the law of your country of habitual residence (including your right to bring data protection claims before your local Supervisory Authority or courts under GDPR Articles 77–79).
